President: Dan Staples
Dan has been serving on the MTEA Executive Board for several years as a High School Association Representative, Head AR, Legislative Chair, 1st Vice President and is currently in his 4th year as President. He also serves as Negotiations Chair. At the county level Dan sits on the OCCEA Executive Committee. At the state level he is a twice elected Delegate Assembly Alternate and one of 22 graduates of the 2016 NJEA John V. Warms Union School, in addition to being hired as a full time organizer for NJEA’s Inaugural Summer Fellowship Program. Dan is also a part of NJEA’s HOPE initiative and an organizing member of NJEA’s Early Career Network. At the national level Dan has represented Manchester at the NEA Representative Assembly for the past three years and was awarded a scholarship to attend the 2014 NEA Leadership Summit in Atlanta, Georgia. He has attended rallies and Board of Education meetings all over the state to fight against privatization in public schools, advocate for fair labor practices, and support other NJEA causes. He has been attending NJEA’s annual Legislative Conference, Winter and Summer Leadership Conferences, the Pride Conference, the OCCEA Overnight and the Jim George Collective Bargaining Summit the entire time he has been in office, in addition to countless local, county and UniServ trainings. In his free time Dan can be found taking random road trips with his wife and two children, completing Tough Mudders with his team, The Dirty Birds while raising money and awareness for one of his many favorite charities, or camping out along the rustic East Coast. He is a lifelong Manchester resident and a proud United States Marine Corps veteran.
1st Vice President: Susan Morgan
A proud resident of Brick, Susan enjoys a sense of dual citizenship due to her deep commitment to Manchester Township Schools. She has been a teacher in Manchester since her graduation from Glassboro State College (now Rowan University) in 1979. Susan has been a zealous and passionate long-time activist for the Manchester Township Education Association Executive Board where she has held many leadership positions over the years, including Building Representative, First Vice President, Second Vice President (current), Negotiations Chair, and Grievance/Response Chair (current). She has remained active on the local, county (current First Vice President of OCCEA), state (current NJEA Government Relations Committee Chair and Women in Education Committe Member), and national levels (currently NEA/RA Representative). Susan’s greatest motivation and interest lies in Member Rights Activism striving to ensure the fair and equal treatment of all MTEA members.
Susan resides in Brick with her husband and children. In addition to being a mother, Susan was pleased to become a new grandmother in 2012, welcoming their first grandchild, Mason, into the family. Susan enjoys spending time with her family and sitting in the sun.
